How often should you get tested for STDs?

How often you should get STD testing depends on your sex life and your health history. For example:

Sexually active gay and bisexual men

Sexually active gay and bisexual men should schedule chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis testing at least once a year. If you have multiple sex partners, they should get tested every three to six months.

Sexually active women under 25

Anyone in this category should get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia once a year. In addition, women older than 25 who have new or multiple sex partners should also get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia once a year.

Men aged 13 to 64

All sexually active boys and men between the ages of 13 and 64 should get tested for HIV once, and get tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis yearly.

Pregnant women

Pregnant women should be tested for syphilis, hepatitis B, and HIV at the beginning of pregnancy.
